BuddyTV spoke with Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, about their thoughts on the live action adaptation.

“He’s very respectful of the material we have created,” says creator Mike DiMartino of Shyamalan.  “We are really excited to see the Avatar world come to life in a live-action movie.  Personally, I can’t wait to see a realistic Appa flying through the sky.”

“Once he saw the first few episodes he was hooked and thought it would make a great live-action movie.  Then lots of secret, behind-the-scenes Hollywood stuff happened that made the movie a reality,” DiMartino adds.

From One Afro To Another

Posted by JP | Afro Samurai | Tuesday 5 August 2008 8:11 pm

Back in 2005 it was announced that a live-action adaptation of Takashi Okazaki’s Afro Samurai was in the works with Samuel L. Jackson, the voice in the anime, on board as Producer.

Well, Mr. jackson spoke with MTV about Afro Samurai and gave a few updates on the project, as well as who he sees in the role.

“We have a live-action plan,” Jackson revealed, saying that he wants to see Afro’s battle with Number One up on the big screen with flesh-and-blood actors. “Hopefully, that script will come together and we’ll be able to do that in the next two years or so.”

On the TV Show, Sam the Man is an executive producer and the voice of the high-kicking Samurai warrior. In real life, however, the 59-year-old actor revealed to us that he’ll let someone else play Afro.

“No, I’m not; I won’t be doing that,” he shrugged. “I’ll be the dead father. I’ll show up in some spiritual scenes, and give him some guidance. We’ll find some young guy that is capable of doing all those things and make it really cool.”

Asked who he wants for the flick, the producer responded: “You know, when I look at him, I see Andre 3000,” Jackson grinned. “So, maybe so.”

A Tankful Megatron?

Posted by JP | Transformers | Monday 4 August 2008 6:32 am

Chud.com is reporting that not only will Megatron return in Tranformers 2, but he will be slightly different this time around:

“OK, I don’t think there’s a soul out there who will be surprised when Megatron returns inTransformers 2*. If the current incarnation of the script follows the beats of a previous incarnation (which did not feature The Fallen), Megatron may be getting brought back by the Autobots, who need him to conquer the new menace. But I’ve learned that this time he won’t be that weird alien jet. This time he’s a tank.”
